Dachau

We wake up a bit late but have stopped to pick up coffee and a roll and are on our way about 10:30. S-bahn and bus are easy.

Dachau is more developed than when I was here in '73. Country side is beautiful and peaceful. Memorial is daunting. We get started and watch the film and then break for lunch, eating our Jersey Mike's sandwiches. We wrap it up around 3:30 and easily make our way back to Munich.

We stop for a beer at the open area near the maypole. It's crazy at this time of day but we enjoy a beer and pretzel and then head back for a rest before dinner. 

Dinner is Italian, just down the street, called Cafe Monico. We have an Italian waiter who seems straight from Italy. We get two bottles of water, a nice Italian red, and he brings us an Italian salad. Dinner is gnocchi with gorgonzola and walnuts and a salami pizza. All delicious. A good meal.
